The Old Boys’ Association passes on our condolences to the Kassulke family on the passing of Bryan Kassulke (1952). Bryan was 90 years old and is survived by his wife Morna and their children.

Bryan absolutely shone on the Ashgrove and opposition playing fields in football, cricket (1952 captain 1stXI), and athletics.  No other Ashgrovian represented the Ashgrove 1st XV for 5 years in a row as Bryan did, from 1948 to 1952.

He was our Captain in 1952 and he then went on to represent Qld in rugby from 1953 to 1955.

Bryan was a great supporter of the College and always attended the Old Boys’ Sports Days and Vintage Lunch/Mass up to two years ago when age and travel from the Sunshine Coast made it impossible.

The Kassulkes hailed from Beaudesert originally.  Bryan’s four brothers, Colin (1942) dec’d , Tom (1945) dec’d, Stan( 1946) dec’d and Terry (1953) and their sons all left their mark at Ashgrove.

Bryan was such a humble gentleman and an absolute legend. Sporting ability continues in the Kassulke family. Nigel Kassulke (1978), Bryan’s brother Tom’s son,  represented the Wallabies in 1985 in two tests as a centre like Bryan!

What a great life and such a loss to our community.

Funeral details: 11am Friday December 15, 2023, at St James Catholic Church, Old Cleveland Road, Coorparoo.
