BISHOP HEENAN (1955) AND FOUR OB PRIESTS COME TOGETHER TO CELEBRATE MASS

The Vatican might be lucky to get five priests from one city together for Mass. The Holy Father would probably like to know how one school can do that just for lunch – with one still on the reserve bench. Well, Your Holiness, it is Ashgrove after all.

At the Vintage Blue and Gold Lunch this year, the College and the Old Boys were very proud to have Mass celebrated by our newly minted Old Boy priests, Father Tom Zaranski (2004) and Father Tom Duncan (2011). They were joined by the wonderful Bishop Brian Heenan (1955), Father Michael Carroll (1970) and the legendary Father Leo Coote (1962). Our more informed Old Boys will recall that Fr Leo once held the world one hour push up record.

And we could have done six – but unfortunately our great friend, Father John Begg (1956), was struck down by illness on the day.

And what a day it was. The OBA thanks these wonderful men for making their time available to support the College and our Vintage Old Boys. Viriliter Age !
