The OBA congratulations Thomas (Tom) Sue Yek on his recent win at the International Emmy Awards held in New York on 25 September 2024. Tom won the award as film editor for the documentary ‘The Last Hospital: 30 Days in Myanmar’ which had a small crew of journalists covering the civil war.
Tom’s passion for media began at MCA where he spent a lot of his free time in the FTV rooms and was part of the Tech Crew. If it wasn’t for the connections Marist had with Channel 7 (and a helpful push from mum) he wouldn’t be where he is today.
Tom currently works for Sky News UK as the Senior News Editor (Politics) in London. Since he departed for the UK in 2019, he has covered everything from COVID, the Queen’s passing, the King’s Coronation, the Ukraine war, British elections and so much more.
