OLD BOYS PAY TRIBUTE TO THE CARING & COMMITTED BROTHER JOHN WELLS FMS (RIP)

Those of our members who were fortunate enough to attend the Marist College Ashgrove Primary School from 1986-1989 and 1995 to 2000 will remember with great affection, Brother John Wells who was firstly a teacher and then Head of Primary, 1995-2000.

It is with great sadness that the OBA advises that Brother John, who resided at the College in recent years, passed away on 17th February, 2025 aged 79 and in the 62nd year of his Marist life.

Brother John was a gentle man and quiet achiever who truly led by example – Simplicity, Modesty, Humility. Brother had a great presence amongst the primary students, proudly coached the 5D cricket, was an avid supporter of the music program and insisted on the highest standards of presentation, manners and respect. All this with a wry sense of humour. When those littlest Ashgrovians left Brother’s care they were well and truly ready for life in the Secondary. We are indebted to Br John and will remember him with love and gratitude.

The Old Boys send their condolences to Brother John’s siblings Patricia, Peter and Ann and to their extended families.

A Requiem Mass will be held for Brother John at the College Chapel at 10.30 am this Wednesday, 26th February 2025.

May our Mother Mary and St Marcellin Champagnat welcome Brother John home.
