Honouring Our Old Boys on Australia Day.
Congratulations to John Denis Connolly (1969), who was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to rugby union as a coach and mentor. As a former Wallabies coach, John was also inducted into the Queensland Rugby Hall of Fame in 2025, a richly deserved honour recognising his extraordinary contribution to the game. John attended the College as a dayboy from Enoggera (1959–65) and later as a boarder from Nambour (1966–69). He was featured in the November 2025 edition of The Ashgrovian (page 27), celebrating his remarkable achievements on and off the field.
We also congratulate Old Boy Dr Mark Francis Waters (1973), who received the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to medical administration. Mark was a boarder from Quilpie, Goondiwindi and Pinkenba during his time at the College, served as Senior Prefect, and was a valued member of the 1st XV in 1973.
We are proud to acknowledge both men for their outstanding achievements and service to Australia.
