When visionary Headmaster, Brother Terry Heinrich (RIP) (1991-1996), introduced the 8 House system in 1993, he took a huge risk. Such a massive change. He knew the entire structure could only succeed if those chosen to lead each House were of the highest calibre. Not just in 1993 but in the decades to come. Younger brothers would be following and, now, even sons. That very special Ashgrove culture, built up over the previous 52 years, could not be lost.

So, as the House system completes its 30th year, many Old Boys from 1993 onwards will reflect on the very special qualities of those who made it work.

The end of this year will sadly see three of the greats, Old Boys Terry Quain (Ignatius) and Stan Kosiek (Foley) together with the wonderful, wonderful Megan Wandell (Slattery) bring the curtain down on their House leadership roles. The OBA acknowledges their exceptional dedication, compassion and personal sacrifice in ensuring that Ashgrove culture remained as the hallmark of the boys’ education – just as Brother Terry had wanted. Thankfully, each of Megan, Stan and Terry will be staying on to continue to serve in a teaching capacity.

What else can the Old Boys of Ignatius, Foley and Slattery say – Thank you ! Viriliter Age !
