It was strictly by invitation only Old Boys ! Thursday night saw the holding of the prestigious Brisbane Youth Jazz Festival to which 15 jazz bands were invited – but only 2 schools.
And, as usual, the Ashgrove Big Band 1 were just superb. Faultlessly presenting the classics ‘Cute’, ‘Birdland’, ‘North Shore Evening’ and ‘Until I Met You’; and John Coltrane would have had tears in his eyes could he have seen his classic ‘Blue Train’ holding the audience spellbound.
From all our OB musicians, congratulations to our young performers of today who continue the tradition. The pursuit of excellence. All that hard work does pay off. Simply the finest music program in the country.
