HAYDEN’S 380 STANDS AT THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN
With all the double leaping, bowing and whooping at the Adelaide Oval, just a timely reminder for Old Boys that the all time Australian highest test score stays with Ashgrove’s Matt Hayden. A beautiful 380 against Zimbabwe at the WACA in October 2003.
That purely majestic innings came on the world’s fastest track, coping with the Fremantle Doctor, against a pace attack aged over 16 and which included the world class Heath Streak (216 test wickets). Upon reaching 100 and then 200, Matt raised his bat but once, shook hands with his captain Steve Waugh, blessed himself and went back about his business. Upon breaking the then all time Test record of 375, he outrageously permitted himself to raise both arms in the air. All Ashgrove. All Class. Viriliter Age !
